DS Smith, the leading manufacturer of packaging, and Fronius an Austrian based manufacturer of welding, photovoltaics, and charging technology, worked out together the modular transport fibre-based packaging solution for heavy duty equipment – welding machines.
DS Smith's packaging for TransSteel 2200C overcomes the toughest challenges of global distribution for Fronius' welding machine equipment. This innovative solution is engineered to protect heavy duty equipment through an array of demanding transportation scenarios.
TransSteel 2200C has been rigorously tested and validated for performance across all major shipping modes during a real-life transportation scenario and a vibration test according to Fronius guidelines.
Modular design delivering maximum protection for TransSteel 2200C is a modular packaging system made from corrugated cardboard. This unique design provides superior protection for Fronius' 15kg welding machines during any type of transportation: by truck, ship, air freight, or parcel service.
Built for sustainability and efficiency, this robust yet lightweight packaging solution is 100% recyclable and features an easy-to-construct and deconstruct, minimal component design. DS Smith design and innovation team developed the concept consists of three identical trays for the base, lid, and accessories, along with two folded four-layer sidewalls that lock into the base.
The individual welding machines can be positioned securely within the packaging solution and the lid added and enabled as a carrying function. The outer box, which is sealed with tape, can be filled in less than a minute using the pre-erected packaging parts and components.
