DS Smith included in FTSE4Good Index Series

DS Smith is delighted to announce that is has once again been included in the renowned FTSE4Good Index Series.

The internationally recognised assessment scores companies on their performance related to environmental, social and governance (ESG). It is a measure of a company’s commitment to and success in operating in a sustainable, responsible manner.

Sustainability is of ever increasing interest to the investment community, whether for specialist SRI investors or the wider integration of ESG principles. Assessments such as FTSE4Good provide a recognised, robust and consistent mechanism through which we can demonstrate our progress and strong credentials in this area.

— Rachel Stevens, Investor Relations Director

In order to build from this strong platform we have recently announced nine new sustainability targets across our three pillars of sustainability: Our Business, Our Environment and Our People.

These targets focus on the areas where we believe we can have the greatest impact and it is through delivery against these new objectives that we will look to further improve our score and maintain inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series for many years to come.

We recognise and value the role that assessment such as FTSE4Good, CDP, Ecovadis and others play in helping us to identify those sustainability areas that are of particular interest to stakeholders. Through our circular business model and network of packaging strategists we’re redefining packaging for a changing world, delivering long-term sustainable value for all of our stakeholders.

— Emma Ciechan, Director of Planning, Performance Management and Sustainability

The world is changing around us and quality, sustainable packaging is a force for good. We’re focused on continuing strong performance in benchmarks such as FTSE4Good to provide evidence of our position as the leading supplier of sustainable packaging solutions.
