DS Smith Plastics Produces the Perfect Customized and Durable Courier Box for TNT Express to Enhance Mail Picking and Logistic Handling
Durability of injection moulded crates is a long-term investment that reduces cost and waste through the entire supply chain.
TNT Express transports large volumes of time-sensitive parcels and print materials every day. Through their two divisions, Mail and Express, they pick up, transport, sort and store packages in over 200 countries. To enhance handling and to reduce carriage costs, the courier company decided to invest in a custom-made box for mail picking and logistic handling. The box had to meet different requirements in terms of identification, interior of the boxes and usability. They contacted DS Smith Plastics, Injection Moulded Products to design the perfect box to meet all their requirements.
Injection Moulding is the ideal technique to manufacture a customized plastic packaging that meets every imaginable requirement and is rigid enough to meet the extreme transportation conditions of a worldwide courier company. DS Smith Plastics designed a box with a sloped bottom to center the content during logistic handling. In terms of identification, the exterior has a dedicated space for identification labels that can easily be replaced. Reinforced sides and rims protect the boxes against intense usage.
The courier box fits perfectly in the entire supply chain. Thanks to the ideal measurements, the boxes fit on the pallets and dollies, as well as on the conveyers of the distribution center. Openings in the bottom allow for easy manipulation of the content and the sloped bottom centers all content perfectly. The ergonomic grips at the sides allow for easy handling. The reusable boxes last for decades, saving costs on the need to purchase new one-way packaging constantly. In addition, they are 100% recyclable at the end of their useful life.
