Inka Teknik chooses Akylite® Polypropylene sheets as a Retail-Ready Point of Sales (POS) Solution for Ice Cream Displays.

DS Smith Plastics’ reusable and recyclable Polypropylene sheets are effectively used to create bins to keep ice cream organised, appealing and visible inside open coolers and attract consumer’s attention.

Inka Teknik, a commercial printer specializing in retail-ready displays, was looking for a shipping and storage solution that would keep ice cream organized to be neatly displayed in open coolers at convenience stores. The new solution needed to be both durable and capable of attracting the attention of retail customers to create the best possible customer experience.

The challenge:

DS Smith Plastics in Kaysersberg, France was approached by Inka Teknik, a commercial printer, for a shipping and retail-ready solution for their ‘point of sales’ (POS) ice cream displays that keeps the products organised in transport to later be neatly displayed in open coolers at convenience stores. The new solution required durability and reusability, unlike the previous material used which was not suitable to withstand the changes in temperature and humidity. Additionally, the containers needed to be customizable to offer increased brand awareness.

Our approach:

Due to a growing relationship with the customer over the past 2 years, Inka Teknik has naturally contacted us for this new development project.

DS Smith Plastics offers a product range of durable and recyclable bubble structure polypropylene sheets called Akylite® which was appropriate for transport and maintaining organisation of the ice cream, as well as offering enhanced visibility for POS displays inside of open coolers. Akylite’s rigidity, lightweight and humidity resistant properties made it the ideal material to endure changes in temperature and freezer conditions. The developed solution included a variety of Akylite polypropylene bins in different sizes and shapes for maximum flexibility. Furthermore, Akylite’s smooth, uniform surface offered Inka Teknik a printing material to produce superior image resolution and definition.

The results:

Due to our close relationship with the customer and the flexibility of the polypropylene material, Inka Teknik has developed a successful solution using Akylite polypropylene bins for the ice cream displays. The bins are shipped flat and are easy to assemble on site reducing associated transportation costs.

The utilisation of Akylite for this type of application has opened new opportunities for Inka Teknik to use these retail-ready cooler displays globally.
