DS Smith Designs an Elegant Reusable Crate Family to Enhance Vitalis’ Premium Brand Credentials
To position itself even better as the market leader of mineral waters in restaurants, Vitalis decided to invest in a new reusable plastic crate family. To achieve this goal Vitalis appealed to DS Smith Plastics’ expertise.
Vitalis, the Portuguese premium mineral water and lifestyle product of the Super Bock Group, wanted to enhance its position as producer of purified water served in restaurants. They therefore launched two new bottles of 37,5cl and 75cl that would be distributed in restaurants in reusable beverage crates of respectively 20 x 37,5cl and 12 x 75cl. The Super Bock Group appealed to DS Smith Plastics to design the right crate that would comply with the demanding logistical requirements of the catering industry and that would match the look and feel of the brand.
Reusable beverage crates are highly suitable to distribute beverages in restaurants. Their strength protects the bottles during the intensive transport and, at the same time, are very suitable to promote the brand. DS Smith Plastics’ Injection Moulded Products’ design department developed a crate that would comply with all these requirements. The technical department looked at the strength and ergonomics of the crate, while working closely together with the design department to create the perfect look and feel.
The Vitalis water crates, which are made entirely out of recycled material, stand out for their strong minimalist design. This crate family is a great marketing tool for brand recognition because both crates carry the same key visual elements of the brand. The azure blue smooth surface contrasts with the curvy logo of the brand. Four ergonomically shaped handles with structured surface make the crate comfortable and easy to carry.
Due to changed consumer behaviour, there is a trend towards smaller packaging units. Because we wanted to act upon this trend, we contacted DS Smith Plastics to develop a new beverage crate.
