DS Smith presents its wide range of products at Empack Porto 2018

During Empack Porto, DS Smith presented its packaging solutions intended for point of sale displays, as well as its solutions specifically developed for the e-commerce sector.

With a varied offer of products that meet the needs of different sectors, visitors to the DS Smith stand had an opportunity to try out, first-hand, the high quality and innovation of point of sale displays and consumer goods packaging, including Fanfold and Honeycomb products. Precisely this last product, inspired by the geometry of honeycombs, was the main theme of one of the two lectures delivered by DS Smith during Empack Porto 2018.

In his lecture “Honeycomb in the packaging industry”, Fernando Rodrigues highlighted this product’s various applications, underscoring the fact that Honeycomb can be an effective alternative for materials such as wood and other materials of petrochemical origin, having a beneficial influence on the environment. Moreover, the Department Manager also briefly referred the different types of honeycomb that respond to different market needs: Corecomb (furniture), Packcomb (industry) and Visualcomb, with a particular focus on this last one, as it finds wide applications in the graphic arts industry with its extraordinary printing properties.

During the fair’s 4th edition, DS Smith also highlighted the value that packaging and displays can generate for businesses. “Since the majority of consumers make a purchase decision at the point of sale, packaging solutions are a sales generating tool for companies, having far more impact than TV commercials or online communication”, said Joana Gonçalves, Marketing Manager for DS Smith Portugal.

Empack Porto is the most prominent fair in Portugal, dedicated exclusively to packaging and logistics sectors. In its 2018 edition, it brought together more than 4 000 professionals interested in learning more about the latest developments in packaging technology to improve their businesses.
