Becoming a member

If you’re passionate about building an inclusive culture for all, you’ll want to join one of our Active Networks. In doing so, you’ll become part of an exciting movement that’s helping create a welcoming place for people from all walks of life.

Joining an Active Network has many benefits. These include developing leadership skills, making new connections, and contributing to positive change within DS Smith.

We also encourage colleagues to sign up as allies to learn and engage with our Active Networks. An ally is often defined as someone who is not a member of an underrepresented group, but wants to support and take action to help people in that group.

Networks members are empowered to:

  • Share ideas on how we can develop a more inclusive culture.
  • Lead by example, be an advocate and help promote inclusion.
  • Support network activities and events.
  • Attend network meetings or take part in network discussions.

Network members are not expected to:

  • Be subject matter experts in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
  • Train people on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
  • Replace the role of Trade Unions or Works Councils.

Joining a network as an ally will enable you to advocate for a more inclusive organisation while helping to increase your understanding of the challenges that individuals from other backgrounds face.
