SCA Packaging Leeds co-pack facility enters new markets

The SCA Packaging Leeds facility, specialising in contract packing, has been awarded a wholesale dealers license by the MHRA (Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency).

As of the 5th May, ‘Leeds’ can now offer its services to the pharmaceutical and medicinal markets.

The MHRA is responsible for ensuring that medicines and associated products are safe and of appropriate quality.  Before a medicine can be sold in the U.K, a number of licenses are required. Any company involved in the distribution of medicinal products must have the MHRA license.  Manufacturers and distributors are subject to stringent inspections to ensure products continue to conform to agreed high standards.

Barbara Ryan, Co-Packing Network Manager, states “Being granted the MHRA licence is a fantastic team achievement.  Leeds will now be able to offer existing customers an even better all round service across all their product categories, whilst also allowing us to target new customers in new markets.”

In accordance with the license agreement, each facility must have a “licensed responsible person” to ensure compliance with the guidelines – Dave Eason, Operations Manager at Leeds, will take on board that responsibility.

Dave Eason, Operations Manager, states “I am looking forward to the challenge of ensuring that ‘Leeds’ continues to meet with the MHRA guidelines and standards.”

Leeds currently specialises in the personal care & toiletries markets where the repackaging and reformatting of products is required. However, now products that contain medicinal & special ingredients can be serviced also.
