DS Smith Recycling volunteers to Keep Wales Tidy on World Environment Day

On 5 June 2018, team members from the DS Smith Recycling UK Head Office in Caerphilly volunteered to tidy up a nearby beauty spot that suffers from litter and fly-tipping. DS Smith and Keep Wales Tidy had organised the litter pick for World Environment Day.

The event was well attended, with DS Smith, Keep Wales Tidy, local councillors, and other local businesses all sending representatives. At the same time, a specialist team also cleared the woodland stream, removing litter and ensuring clear passage through the waterway for local fish.

In two hours, the 21 volunteers collected 112 bags of waste weighing a total of 3 tonnes, leaving a marked improvement in the local ecosystem.

Mathew Prosser, Managing Director of DS Smith Recycling UK and Trustee of Keep Wales Tidy, commented:

As a business proud to be headquartered in Wales, and as a longstanding partner of both Keep Wales Tidy and Keep Britain Tidy, DS Smith Recycling is delighted that our World Environment Day litter pick has had such a positive impact on our local community.
