From two virtually identical corrugated cardboard layouts three pieces of packaging of completely different sizes can be built. The clever structure is particularly ideal for online stores due to its versatility thanks to a clever construction. Products of many different sizes and quantities can be securely transported using this packaging concept.

DS Smith realises variable shipping packaging

With the intelligently constructed shipping packaging 'Variable' DS Smith has developed and implemented a packaging concept true to the motto 'The Power of Less', which, thanks to its flexibility, can fully meet the challenges of online retail. A packaging with a base and cover can be quickly created from just two slightly differing layouts. The opportunity to also create another separate packaging from each of the base and cover parts is particularly sophisticated.The result is three items of packaging of various formats that are optimally adjusted to individual product requirements.

With the 'Variable' packaging concept the Full-Service-Packaging-Provider DS Smith has provided a customer with significantly reduced complexity: the previous 13 different packaging units were completely replaced by the two layouts. The therefore significantly minimised number of different items of packaging for various sizes optimised the customer's entire packaging process and ensured greater efficiency.
