DS Smith Organises Tombola in Favour of UNICEF

Help for children in need! The DS Smith Plant in Fulda collected 1.500,- Euro for charity purpose.

Fulda, January 2nd, 2013 – Help for children in need! The DS Smith packaging plant in Fulda has about 300 employees who all engaged enthusiastically in a tombola. All in all 1.500,- Euro were collected for charity purpose. DS Smith handed over this amount to Gerhard Möller, the mayor of Fulda, in his function as patron of the UNICEF working group Fulda.

DS Smith and UNICEF"After the devastating earthquake in 2010 in Haiti we started several activities in favour of UNICEF to help children in need. Since 2010 we are connecting different activities of the company with donations. In this way we have already collected more than 15.000,- Euro for the children in Haiti”, Anja Röhrle, Marketing Manager D-A-CH at DS Smith Packaging, pointed out.

Organising a tombola with great prizes

Just before Christmas time the employees of the DS Smith packaging plant in Fulda organized a tombola with great prizes. The first prize was a huge cuddle toy. Each employee was able to buy raffle tickets for 1,- Euro, offered by trainees.

“Good thing about the tombola was that every ticket was a win and there were no blanks. The approximately 300 employees of the DS Smith packaging plant in Fulda enthusiastically adopted the tombola and the result has been successful”, Michael Resch, Director Human Resource at the DS Smith packaging plant in Fulda, highlighted. Rounding up the result Michael Resch stated: “All in all we were able to collect 1.500,- Euro for charity purpose.”

This amount of money was handed to mayor Gerhard Möller, patron of the UNICEF working group Fulda and Ritva Mikkonen-Diegelmann, Director of the UNICEF working group Fulda.

“Every child should have access to clean drinking water, staple foods as well as a primary health care”, Gerhard Möller pointed out. “UNICEF advocates in a special way for children in the poorest countries of the world. I’m pleased to see that companies in Fulda are supporting us energetically.”

Gerhard Möller, the major of Fulda, and Ritva Mikkonen-Diegelmann, Director of the UNICEF working group Fulda, were pleased to receive the donation check from Michael Resch, Director Human Resources at DS Smith packaging Fulda, Anja Röhrle, Marketing manager D-A-CH, Sarah Heil and Nadine Bormann from DS Smith (from left to right). The money was realized through an internal tombola where all employees were invited to buy raffle tickets.
