Packaging Toury has been commended by the cosmetics and perfume industry for ‘leading by example’ in regards to sustainable development.
The Cosmetic Valley association located in the Loire Valley gathers most of the major actors of the perfumes and cosmetics industry such as Guerlain & Dior (LVMH), Shiseido, Hermès, Nina Ricci et Paco Rabanne (Puig Group), Yves Saint Laurent Beauté (L’OREAL), Clarins and many more. Cosmetic Valley is without a doubt the world’s leading resource centre in perfumes and cosmetics in terms of know-how, research and training.
Back in 2007 the association started a global approach on sustainable development and since then invited their members and partners to consider tomorrow’s sustainability challenges by ensuring the quality and safety of their products and services, respecting man and planet.
To underline their sustainability commitment the association launched a charter at the end of 2009, based on 4 key pillars:
- Environment (energy, waste, transport, etc.),
- Product offer (safety, eco-toxicity, bioaccumulation, etc.),
- Philosophy of business improvement,
- Social responsibility (fair trade, developing human resources, sponsorship, etc.).
The level of engagement towards this charter is awarded with 4 peonies (pivoines). Our Consumer Division in France signed this charter in March 2010 and has since then already moved from being awarded 1 peonie (March 2010) to 3 (December 2010). The objective is to obtain all 4 peonies in the course of 2011.
Last month’s edition of the Cosmetic Valley Magazine addressed the eco responsibility of the players within the perfume segment as well as the commitment towards the charter. SCA Packaging Toury was not only awarded with 3 peonies but at the same time commended for ‘leading by example’.
