After winning an internal awards, the employees of Fulda decided to donate their 2500€ to a good cause.

For more than 25 years, the children's cancer fund Schlitz has been collecting donations in their battle against cancer. As state funding alone is not enough, they also seek the commitment of private individuals as well as businesses.

This is to ensure developments are achieved for new treatment concepts for the nursing as well as the psychosocial treatments of children suffering from cancer and their families. Fulda feels strongly about supporting children with cancer and their families and donated their 2,500, - € prize money to this good cause.

Fulda received 2500€ prize money as a result of an internal performance competition within DS Smith Germany and Central Europe,. "It was the excellent performance of our approximately 300 employees here in Fulda which helped us achieve this award, and we are proud that with our efforts we can now support kids with cancer.  This will not only bring relief to the young patients, but also to their siblings and their parents," said Hans Albrecht-Lerch, General Manager of DS Smith packaging Fulda.

‘The entire winnings will go to the affected children and their families. confirms Dieter Hämmelmann representative of Schlitz the children's cancer fund, “For us it is not a given that companies show their engagement in such a generous way. Our thanks comes from our heart.”

Hämmelmann pointed out that recent therapy developments are very hopeful. "25 years ago the chance to cure children’s leukemia was about 60 % and  nowadays it has increased to more than 85 %. This gives us the energy to continue our activities. The donation of DS Smith Fulda motivates us a lot and shows that if everyone does something good, we get to great!
