BEWi buys EPS activities from DS Smith
Leading packaging company, DS Smith, has sold all EPS activities in Denmark and Sweden to Norwegian EPS specialist BEWi Group.
DS Smith is continuously strengthening its focus on becoming Europe's leading supplier of recycled packaging solutions for consumer goods, and seeing as DS Smith's core business is based on corrugated, the EPS businesses Flamingo® (Denmark) and Cellplast (Sweden) were in lack of the strategic focus they need to realize their true potentials. Therefore DS Smith has now sold the EPS activities to Norwegian EPS specialist, BEWi Group.
BEWi Group has been developing and manufacturing EPS products since the company start in 1980, and both Flamingo® and Cellplast will be playing an important part in fulfilling BEWi's vision of becoming the leading EPS company in Northern Europe.
A natural next step
Managing Director in DS Smith Denmark, Thomas Kure Jakobsen:
"Our focus lies on continuously positioning ourselves as the market leader within innovative recycled packaging solutions for consumer goods, and our core business will always be corrugated and corrugated related accessories. Our EPS activities represent a very healthy business with a big potential, which we would very much like to see being realized, and we completely trust BEWi Group to be able to do that with their vast experience in EPS manufacturing and their highly specialized business. Not only is the sale of our EPS businesses a natural next step for both DS Smith and BEWi Group, it is a genuine win/win situation."
Flamingo® and Cellplast will officially become a part of BEWi Group on July 1st 2014 after final approval from competition authorities.
