Ifö tapped into increased sales by teaming with DS Smith

With a new product line to launch Ifö (over 100 years working in procelain) involved their marketing department to design the packaging as opposed to the production and purchasing departments. The marketing department then turned to the packaging strategists at DS Smith to create packaging that would increase sales, lower costs, reduce environmental impact and maintain the robust protection of their breakable porcelain products.

Challenge

Help Ifö use well-designed packaging to help increase sales, reduce costs and improve the environmental impact for a new product line.

Our Approach

The first step was to move from a combination of wood, foam and brown corrugated to a well-designed corrugated-only solution without compromising protection. With a white liner it also became possible to print in 5 colours greatly increasing the appeal of the product.

Result

  • Increased sales due to the dramatically improved presentation of the product
  • Lower cost of materials and additional cost reductions in storage of packaging materials and the lighter packaging also reduces transport costs
  • Increased environmental performance with a fully recyclable solution
  • Faster packing time and reduced labour costs as the new solution does not need to be stapled
