DS Smith Tecnicarton's strategy for attracting and retaining talent

DS Smith Tecnicarton knows how important it is to have good professionals, people who are committed to the company's philosophy and who grow with it. This is why the company values and encourages the presence of young students doing their internships at DS Smith Tecnicarton

Since its foundation almost 30 years ago, the company has maintained an excellent relationship with the University and with various vocational training centres. This allows them to meet and recognize young people who have much to contribute to the industrial packaging sector.

Students from the Universitat Politècnica de València, from the Univeristat de València, EDEM, ESIC, La Florida and the Universidad Cardenal-Herrera CEU have worked for the company.

DS Smith Tecnicarton currently has several people completing their training in different areas. With the added advantage that in this company, students have a tutor who acts as such and guides them to know how to adapt to the new environment.

They also have an itinerary so that their passage through the company, whether or not they stay in it, is productive. And of course for many of them, the end of their internship translates into a contract and the possibility of staying in the company.

It is certainly not easy to move from an academic and study world to the daily reality of a company where projects have to come out, satisfy the client, be competitive and profitable. It's about going into the business world where the grade is not given by a teacher, but by the market.

But DS Smith Tecnicarton is clear that having recent graduates or students from different educational cycles is a bet for the company's future: it generates quality employment, provides new visions and, of course, allows the company to expand its workforce and grow with enthusiasm and strength

As an example of DS Smith Tecnicarton's willingness to give young people a job opportunity, we can talk about the company's current sales manager who entered as an intern, or the marketing manager who also went through her internship contract. In the commercial areas, several design and development engineers, first of all, were grantees who gradually became indispensable in their departments and are now responsible for the area.

This is one of DS Smith Tecnicarton's stakes: to have young people bring their courage and in return offer them a career in an important company.
