DS Smith Recycling launches Head Office Employee Development Programme
On 26 February 2018, the DS Smith Recycling Division Head Office launched its new Employee Development Programme. An accompaniment to the DS Smith Group’s wider Learning & Development initiatives, this programme focuses on upskilling existing team members at the Division’s UK Head Office.
The Employee Development Programme will last eighteen months, giving nine employees the opportunity to develop their skills by gaining qualifications in Customer Service, Team Leading, Management, and Applied Human Resources.
DS Smith Recycling has partnered with ACT Training, one of the UK’s leading training providers, to deliver the qualifications, as well as with the CIPD, who are delivering Applied Human Resources Level 5. The Programme has drawn on Welsh Government funding, and takes advantage of the Apprenticeship Levy framework.
Nick Power, Business Services Director, said:
We are delighted to be offering our first Employee Development Programme that focuses on providing our existing team members the opportunity to expand their skillsets, while gaining new qualifications to enhance their existing work. By investing in our people, we are expanding on the skills within our teams, and ensuring that we continue to deliver the operational excellence that helps us to delight our customers.
Sasha Brine, HR Business Partner, said:
Part of our vision at DS Smith is to realise the potential of our people, so we are pleased to be rolling out the first formal programme that focuses on upskilling our existing teams. Team members from across our Business Services and HR departments will benefit from qualifications that broaden their skillsets and give them the opportunity to grow their careers at DS Smith.
