Performance and data

DS Smith remains committed to transparent reporting.

We have widened the depth of our data reporting. Statutory data remains in both the Annual report & accounts 2018 and the Sustainability Review 2018. However stakeholders who require a greater level of statistical detail about the environmental performance of DS Smith over the calendar year January to December 2017 can download our sustainability databook. All data contained within this document has been externally assured.

Verification Statement from Bureau Veritas UK

Bureau Veritas UK Limited (Bureau Veritas) has been commissioned by DS Smith Plc. (DS Smith) to provide an independent opinion on the following environmental performance indicators: energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, raw material usage, water consumption, waste, discharge (to air and water) and production for calendar year 2017.

The reporting boundaries cover DS Smith's global operations.

Based on our verification activities and scope of work, nothing has come to our attention to suggest that the reported data do not provide a fair representation of environmental performance across the DS Smith Group for the defined period.

DS Smith should be commended on its approach to environmental data collection, including the use of a central reporting system, clear responsibilities at Head Office and site levels, frequent data gathering, and the existence of an audit trail from source evidence to reported data at the sites visited.
