Investing for the future with eight apprentices and students in Fulda

The DS Smith site in Fulda, Germany recently welcomed eight young apprentices and students as part of their effort to ensure a steady supply of highly skilled and motivated employees.

Rüdiger Lindner, General Manager at DS Smith Fulda welcomed the students, "You have therefore made a very good choice in opting for DS Smith. For this is a great industry with a bright future. Training has a high standard in our company and many former apprentices have been awarded as the best in their year by IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce). With motivation, commitment and initiative you will achieve this, too."

"We have a great demand for qualified specialists and managers. That's why we support and push our apprentices and students in order to gain qualified employees that come to work with motivation, commitment and enjoyment.

As part of the induction day, the new recruits also received an overview of the DS Smith Group, which employs around 26,000 people across Europe. The Works Council and the youth and apprentices representatives used the opportunity to introduce themselves as points of contact, as did several of the trainers. A plant tour rounded off the programme for the parents and the future employees.

DS Smith regularly goes beyond a regular apprenticeship with English lessons, exhibition visits and the apprenticeship day for all DS Smith apprentices and students in the Germany & Switzerland region, which will take place in November. Here young people can get to know one another and exchange across sites.

At the Fulda site DS Smith offers the choice of eight apprentice careers and five dual degrees. Anyone interested in one of the sought-after apprentice spots or a degree better hurry. The deadline for the 2017 apprentice start is 31 December 2016.
