Now open: new PackRight Centre in Normandy

Demonstrating our passion for innovation, we’ve built a creative and collaborative space where our customers can also tap into our deep industry expertise.

Set in our Torigni-sur-Vire plant, our PackRight Centre is the first of its kind in our France Region. Mimicking established PackRight Centres across other DS Smith Regions, its creative and collaborative environment will allow our customers to tap into our experts’ vast industry knowledge. Together, they will explore the wealth of possible solutions to their unique supply cycle challenges. Lively brainstorming and idea-sharing sessions will ultimately unearth the optimal solution.

Our customers will typically spend a full day at the centre with us. Coming in the morning with their vision, ideas, and concerns at the front of their mind, they will leave at the close of day with a clear and tangible solution in their hands.

The opening of the PackRight Centre

At the opening day on March 19, Thibault Laumonier, Managing Director of our France Region cut the tape to officially open the building. He revealed in his speech that: “This PackRight Centre is a signal that DS Smith is investing in new concepts that will lead us to a higher level of collaboration with our customers”. He added: “This investment reflects the pillars of DS Smith’s values proposal to its customers. Our PackRight Centres, along with our Impact Centres, are a centrepiece in our strategy to become Europe’s leading Packaging Strategists.”

A unique environment for developing innovative packaging solutions

The centre’s Welcome Room will allow customers to learn about DS Smith, the role of the PackRight Centre, and trends in the packaging industry. There are a host of tools, including a touch screen that provides expert insight around our three strategic pillars: increasing sales, lowering costs, and managing risk.

We really work with our customers to solve their problems by pushing the boundaries of collaboration and creation to open up new possibilities.

The lively and productive meeting room environments foster creative thinking, brainstorming, and teamwork. Here, we listen to our customers, share ideas, and consider their whole supply cycle – from transportation through supply to recycling. We explore how to create the best solutions for their unique challenges.

In the design office, customers will get first-hand experience on how we build the packaging, watching packaging designers as they turn customers’ ambitions into reality. At the end of the day, customers will walk away with a life-size prototype of their optimal packaging solution. By providing prototypes for customers to share with their colleagues, we can help ensure that the new solution addresses the best their need.

This first PackRight Centre in the France Region will itself evolve over time as we explore ways of leveraging it and as we listen to customers’ ideas on how we can enhance its value. We will take what we have learnt to other plants across the Region, opening up more PackRight Centres closer to our customers.
