LARAC Conference 2016

DS Smith Recycling Division is attending the annual LARAC conference at the East Midlands Conference Centre on the 12th-13th of October. The event is attended by members of the Local Authority Recycling Advisory committee, and discusses challenges and issues around recycling targets.

The conference which is attended by 470 delegates, offers members the opportunity to network with other local authority officers and exhibitors, as well as attend workshops and seminars.

Our UK Commercial Director Tom Campbell-White will present on ‘Improving Quality to Boost Recycling Rates’.  Commenting on the Recycling Divisions involvement at the event, Tom said:

LARAC is an important event in the UK Recycling Calendar. Municipal recycling streams continue to be a key area of growth for us, especially as we are seeing more and more cardboard packaging finding its way into households through the rise of online shopping.

The increase in cardboard packaging in the domestic waste stream means that the volume of the papers collected by local authorities is on the rise. Quality in recycling is at the heart of everything we do at DS Smith, because we want quality paper and card to recycle into quality packaging products.

Members of our Commercial Team will also be present on our stand to discuss how we can help local authorities achieve their recycling targets.

The theme we have adopted for this event is ‘Recycling your residents will love’, tying together householders desire for transparency around what happens to their recycling, and our closed loop recycling offer.

If you are planning to visit the event, you can find us in the Sponsors Hall, LARAC Conference at the East Midlands Conference Centre on the 12th-13th of October.
