One of our automotive customers needed an alternative to the plastic tray they were using to transport their crank shafts. Each tray needed to contain a minimum of eight crank shafts and sit within their existing automated pack.
Our designers developed a corrugated alternative to the plastic tray, and in addition to the environmental benefits, the clever design increased the number of parts per tray from eight to nine and from 64 to 73 per pack. This had the added benefit of reducing storage space and logistics costs. Parts are easily loaded using the same mechanical hoist and a location feature ensures that machined surfaces are protected, with no ‘part on part’ contact.
