DS Smith’s Kemsley Paper Mill celebrates ‘Love Parks’ Week with local school

In July, DS Smith’s Kemsley Paper Mill teamed up with Swale Councils Park Ranger team, Wheelabrator, and Regis Manor Primary School to celebrate Keep Britain Tidy’s ‘Love Parks’ Week.

Because DS Smith operates across the globe, our employees are able to make a real difference. By utilising our knowledge and expertise, we help communities prosper in an ever-changing world.

We endeavour to build a reputation as a responsible neighbour and employer, by empowering employees to solve sustainability challenges, and inspire future generations with key local stakeholders, such as schools and governments, not-for-profit organisations, and community groups.

The ‘Love Parks’ campaign, run by Keep Britain Tidy, is held annually in the UK, and inspires people to venture out and enjoy their favourite parks, making sure they are used and protected for future generations.

This year, Kemsley Paper Mill, along with Swale Council and Wheelabrator, ran a rounders tournament in their local park. Not only that, colleagues also teamed up with students from Regis Manor Primary School for a litter pick, ensuring the park can be appreciated by everyone in the local area.

Kemsley Mill has been carrying out litter picks for over 4 years - completing 6 so far this year, they’ve removed more than one hundred bags of rubbish.

Congratulations goes to the joint winners of the rounders tournament – DS Smith Logistics and Wheelabrator! Our litter pick team also had great fun, one young boy from the school commented that he’d go back and tell his friends not to litter, with others wanting to hold an assembly around the importance of using litter bins! It’s proved to be a fantastic way to educate the younger generation.
