The process of building a mould starts with a design that guarantees that the end product meets the customer’s needs. After changes and approval, our technical designer establishes a fully 3D Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
A Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is executed on the 3D drawings to predict the behaviour under load and to ensure that the output will comply with the high quality standards of DS Smith, Plastics.
On request, the client can receive a 3D printed prototype of the desired product.
Based on the design and technical specifications our team of specialists will determine the design of the production mould.
The customer’s requirements are the most important aspect of the process. With that information, we apply the most innovative technologies in injection moulding that set our product apart from our competitors.
In addition, our gas and water injection methods allow the end product to be unique. If needed, we offer to further our customisation capabilities, such as In Mould Labelling (IML) and Overmoulding with ThermoPlastic Elastomer (TPE) which are techniques that we have been applying successfully.
