Transport packaging for ebm-papst
More safety with the same use of material – this solution won first place in the “Transport Packaging” category of the Innovationspreis Wellpappe 2016 (Innovation Award Corrugated).
Challenge: High stability + saving resources
The new transport packaging for an electrical ventilator by the ebm-papst Group should have high stability and, at the same time, save as many resources as possible.
Our approach: Clever design
The display & packaging strategists at DS Smith have designed a sophisticated design out of corrugated cardboard. Two pieces of the interior ceiling plates are folded to become triangular corner supports. The so-called BCT corners guarantee the global technology leader from Mulfingen, Baden-Württemberg (Germany) maximum safety during stacked transportation of its high-quality ventilators. The products are also fixed by a corrugated cardboard rim adapted to the ventilator head and attached to the floor of the packaging.
Results
- Stabilising BCT corners increase the BCT value by around 30 per cent – without additional use of materials or costs.
- More stability and safety in the transportation and storage
- Mono-material solution saves costs, reduces transport risks and rationalises the manufacturing and disposal processes.
