Achieving consistent quality in the pharmaceutical industry demands a rigorous approach

The nature of the pharmaceutical industry requires strict and wide ranging regulatory requirements to be in place. This is particularly the case when it comes to the packaging of pharmaceutical products.

Pharmaceutical manufacturers must guarantee that only the correct packaging materials are used and that these are correctly printed on, in conformity with local specifications and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

To best support our pharma clients, we perform in-process quality controls, in line with our Quality System and Quality Agreements. We also agree specific quality parameters, in addition to our own quality objectives, with our customers.

Before commencing with full scale production, DS Smith produces test batches under real conditions at the given manufacturing site, performing quality control on these samples. This ensures any issues have been eliminated ahead of time.

During the life of the partnership, in a continuous improvement approach,  DS Smith then continuously monitors both production and customer service quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This enables us to swiftly spot and counteract any deviations from our target KPIs implementing corrective actions to be continuously more efficient.
