Triple win at the 2015 POPAI awards

DS Smith’s UK Packaging Division has been recognised with three accolades at the prestigious POPAI awards 2015.

The packaging and supply cycle specialist was presented with one gold and two silver awards at the 9th annual POPAI awards.

The POPAI awards recognise excellence in point-of-purchase advertising displays and in-store communication activity and are judged by a distinguished panel of industry professionals.

DS Smith won gold for its BBQ display for Premier Foods in the ‘Food & Drink Temporary Display’ category and went on to scoop silver in the overall temporary ‘Display of the Year’ category. The triple win was completed with silver for the ASDA Back to School Bus display.

The gold winning BBQ display unit commissioned by Premier Foods supported the launch of a new range of Shake n Flavour seasoning. The innovative and lifelike unit was designed to mimic a life-size BBQ. By adding theatre and excitement to the shopping experience, shoppers were drawn in and encouraged to try the new product. The use of vibrant six-colour screen print also added to the impact of the unit.

DS Smith’s second award winning pack was its Back to School Bus created for Asda. The pack was designed to create excitement giving shoppers a one-stop-shop for all of their new school term requirements.

Tony Foster, Sales and Marketing Director of DS Smith’s UK Packaging Division, said: “We like to help our customers create a sense of theatre in store, using fun designs and innovative print techniques to engage with shoppers and, ultimately increase sales. We’ve delivered some compelling results for customers, and we’re delighted once again that our efforts have been recognised by the POPAI awards.

“At DS Smith we are constantly looking to innovate and don't just respond to our customers' challenges, but proactively go out to them with new innovations that will help increase sales, reduce costs and manage risk. It’s nice to be recognised for the great work being delivered every day.”
