Completion of the acquisition of EcoPack and EcoPaper

DS Smith plc today announced the completion of its €208mn acquisition of EcoPack and EcoPaper, Romania. The combined business is a leading integrated packaging and paper group in Romania.

The acquisition significantly increases DS Smith’s capacity to serve customers in a high-growth region as well as supporting the company’s existing operations in Eastern Europe.

We continue to grow very strongly throughout Eastern Europe. This exciting acquisition will further expand our position and capability, providing an important platform for the continued development of our innovative “performance packaging” programme in the region.

DS Smith plc will retain the existing 400 employees and could increase the workforce as demand grows. EcoPack and EcoPaper bring both high-quality packaging assets and light-weight papermaking capability, which strongly support DS Smith’s product offering.

The Romanian business has seen strong growth over many years and is well positioned in the local FMCG market. EcoPack and EcoPaper’s customer base and product offer align well with DS Smith plc, providing strong potential for further growth and significant cost synergies.
