"Eco day" in Trakia Mill

Bulecopack Jsc. has invited Trakia Mill for partnership in the Project "Autumn camp for children and youth participation".

Bulecopack Jsc. is a Bulgarian packaging recovery organisation which organises:

  • activities of separate waste collection, transportation, sorting, recycling and recovery of packaging waste,
  • information and educational campaigns aiming,
  • educational programs for kindergartens and schools.

The owner of the Project "Autumn camp for children and youth participation" is the National Children's Network. The purpose of this event is to help young people to grow up as active and thoughtful leaders with active citizenship, which may express their views on issues affecting the children and the young people.

The fourth edition of the autumn camp was from the 7th to the 13th of September 2015 and was attended by 21 young people from across Bulgaria, accompanied by 8 adults as their mentors. Within the event, the Bulecopack Team organised an "Eco day" for the camp's students and their mentors.

In cooperation with Trakia Mill, the participants visited the mill and received important explanations on how to collect waste separately, what is the way of the waste containers for separate collection to the recycling plants and what are the benefits especially of the waste paper recycling.

The Management of Bulecopack Jsc. is very grateful to the Management of Trakia Mill for the great hospitality and possibility for the young people to visit an effective plant for recycling of waste paper and to watch over the whole recycling process starting with the air-storage area for waste paper through the pulper and stock preparation to the real paper production on the paper machine 1.

This joint event is a good example of sharing good practice in the context of the Positive Supply Cycle Thinking with multidirectional benefits.

Eng. Boris Haralampiev, Trakia H&S Expert, said:
"We all need to change our habits and the ways to dispose of waste (paper) throughout the years. Only when we all participate and work together, shall the separate collection of waste (paper) be effective. The process depends on all of us (separate waste collectors, manufacturers on recycling basis, coming generation) and the efforts that we make".
