DS Smith innovates in the snacking market segment for Bonduelle

Founded in 1853 by Louis Bonduelle, the Bonduelle Group is active in more than 100 countries. Bonduelle uses natural preservation processes as part of their commitment to promote a healthier diet. They also tailor their products and operations to take account of local needs while working in close collaboration with 3 440 farmers.

The challenge

The summer snacking market segment is extremely competitive and Bonduelle wanted to stand out with four unprecedented recipes as part of their "Salads that come from abroad", range. These timely products were designed to coincide with an increased desire in the French market for exotic food. Well aware of the essential importance of the packaging for the consumer experience in store, the Group asked DS Smith to highlight its four new products.

Our solution

After numerous months of Research & Development, different versions and further refinement, the packaging that DS Smith developed for Bonduelle was completed: a solution made in compact cardboard with an offset double-sided printing in 4 variants suitable for a mechanised production line.

The result

  • Great on-shelf visibility thanks to double windows, on the top and front faces of the packaging, that allow the customer to appreciate the unique product.
  • Smooth customer experience with easy-opening pre-diecuts in the top face of the packaging
  • Increased brand loyalty through interior printing that lets the consumer know more about the manufacturer and the product. In addition to this information, a QR Code gives direct access to the Bonduelle website.
