Big draw for the 50th anniversary of the Fulda DS Smith plant

Global help for children in need! The 300 or so employees of the DS Smith site in Fulda enthusiastically took part in a raffle as part of a staff party together with their families. A total of approx. €3,500 were raised for this good cause. The company presented a cheque for UNICEF to Ms Ritva Mikonnnen-Diegelmann in her role as the head of the Fulda UNICEF work group.

There has been a DS Smith site in Fulda for 50 years. To mark this event there was an Open Day in October for all employees, their families and friends. Around 1,000 visitors made use of their invitation and took the opportunity to take a look at the production halls of the company on the site tours. Amongst the many activities for young and old, there was also a raffle with around 2,000 attractive prizes.

"The atmosphere on the site was amazing, which must have been an additional help to the success of the raffle and the result is clear to see," says Steffen Hossfeld, General Manager at the DS Smith site in Fulda, who rounded up the total a little. "Around €3,500 were raised for a good cause." This is also down to the suppliers of the plant, who supplied several of the first-class raffle prizes.

The company presented this amount to Ritva Mikkonnen-Diegelmann in her role as the head of the Fulda UNICEF work group.

"It should be a matter of course that every child has access to staple foods, clean drinking water and warm clothing," says Anja Röhrle, D-A-CH Marketing Manager at DS Smith. "Unfortunately, this is not the case in many areas of the world. With our donation we want to make a contribution towards giving children a chance for a future."

"UNICEF, together with many supporters, provides one in three children in the world with vaccinations,equips schools and gets politically involved, for example for effective child protection laws. It makes me very happy that DS Smith has supported this global aid so actively for many years," Ritva Mikkonnen-Diegelmann says.
