HVAC-R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration)
HVAC systems are used widely in new homes, flats and apartments, typically in high-end developments because of the increase in cost of purchase and install.
HVAC-R components have to be manufactured to very tight tolerances and tend to have complicated geometry that can be challenging to mould. We have been moulding HVAC components for well over 20 years and have a wealth of experience in this sector.
Housing for HVAC systems are moulded from EPS or EPP for their durability and thermal efficiency and are used to house working components:
- Heat exchangers
- Control units
We now mould over 45 components for one of our HVAC customers and have been awarded Class 1 Supplier Status - This status was achieved after outperforming in all areas of supply from commercial, quality, SDR responsiveness to on-time deliveries.
The multi-material HVAC-R components we current mould incorporate:
- Insert moulded - Vac-form skins
- Insert moulded - Plastic fixings (ejots, plugs, clips)
- Metal brackets and fixings on both faces of the part
- Working hinges
- Pop locks
As part of the service as a Secondary Operation we also added self-adhesive seals and foam pads.
HVAC units must perform well to pass tough UK and European testing. They will undergo tests to determine efficiency and tests to prove the products meet high standards for sustainable living and the environment.
Parts must fit together well, so that air does not escape or mix until required. We work closely with our customers and tool makers to ensure a perfect final product.
