Deluxe presentation boxes: eco-design and creativity in the service of brands

The great wine and spirits houses recognise DS Smith's savoir-faire for creating luxury packaging.

Eco-design and creativity are among the added values that DS Smith brings to its customers to help them distinguish themselves and stimulate sales.
The latest launches by Veuve-Clicquot, Martell and Moët & Chandon are perfect illustrations of this.

Naturally Veuve Clicquot

On the strength of their previous success with the Naturally eco-designed bottle cover, Veuve Clicquot, in collaboration with DS Smith has elaborated a new, 100% biodegradable and recyclable carton, uniting elegance and originality.

Grape residue from the Veuve Clicquot manufacturing process was blended with cellulose fibers to obtain a unique paper specially developed by the Favini company. In total, 5.2 tonnes of virgin fiber was thus saved.

In perfect harmony with the created natural ethos, the printing on the carton is based on solvent-free ink and varnish, and the pasted label is sugar-cane based.

VSOP Cognac by Jason Wu Martell

DS Smith has made its expertise available to Martell for the creation of a limited edition presentation box.

The box owes its sobriety and elegance to the color-coordinated texture effect obtained thanks to the printing and finishing processes employed.

The use of two finishes (one glossy, one satiny) allow graphic elements such as the brand and cufflinks to stand out. The legibility of the brand and textual elements is preserved by the creation of an selective material effect in embossing. This is done in two passes (on the metallic paper and heavy compact) allowing a high-quality of precision and relief.

Moët Gift 3.0 Moët & Chandon

Creating a gilded, rounded effect on a rectangular carton to highlight the Moët & Chandon logo was the challenge taken up by DS Smith.

The extremely precise cutting of the letters "MOËT", the assembly of the inner wedge and the gold pressing over a large area all require very special expertise.

The texture effect has also been worked with graining on the four surfaces and gold-pressed embossing on the logo. A total of eight manufacturing steps and as many machine runs with no offsetting were necessary in order to create this very striking presentation box.
